Brother Jim I couldn't agree more, it is sad to have to admit. Our country is in trouble and only GOD can deliver us from our sins.
Keep up the good writings,

I read 'The Good Life, The Hard Life' and it brought back memories from my Great-Grandmother and how it was at her house. You have a wonderful way with your wording, you painted such a beautiful picture. I stumbled upon this site while googling 'slop jar'. The reason I was googling this someone at work one day was talking about visiting a home that did not have an indoor toilet . The guy wondered the people did at night when they 'had to go' . I said they possibly had a 'slop jar' and he had no clue what this was. I knew because I used to stay with my Granny sometimes over night. But I stumbled upon your story and absolutely loved it. So I subscribed to this site.

Dearest Brother,
I know whereof you speak. I know each of the terms used in your article. Been there...done that! I too miss the simplicity of those days, although I can't say that I miss emptying the "slop jar", especially after a cold and windy night of dealing with "the green apple two-step".
I'm sure you can remember those days in northest Georgia, when the soles of our shoes would be so worn out that even when we put them on for church Sunday morning, we would still be making barefoot tracks.
Love your blog and keep up the good work.
p.s. Mt Moriah is doing fine!

You help me to make my point ecu66. You are exactly right that the Catholic Church uses the Shroud of Turin as their “reference” when they portray Jesus with long hair. But shouldn’t we use scripture? I Cor 11:14 says that it is a shame for a man to have long hair. Paul was a disciple of Jesus and wrote this in the same time period that Jesus lived. In fact, I believe this verse is evidence that the Shroud of Turin is not the image of Jesus.
